Congratulations to Dr Sarah Evans, who recently won the prestigious NSF CAREER award, making her the third professor in App State's history to do so! The CAREER award is NSF's most coveted award for pre-tenure faculty, and will allow Evans to work with undergraduates in the Department of Geological and Environmental Sciences and collaborate with leading researchers from around the world to better understand how groundwater flow is changing in thawing permafrost landscapes. The $500k grant has significant societal benefits as well, including collaboration with GES Outreach Coordinator Marta Toran to develop curriculum for distribution in partnership with the Alaska Native Science and Engineering Program (ANSEP).
