Dr Ellen Cowan was named a fellow of the Geological Society of America (GSA) in May 2018. Fellowship recognizes geoscientists who have made extraordinary contributions to the field through their research, teaching, leadership, public outreach, and other activities. Dr Cowan's long record of mentorship of undergraduate researchers and integration of research into classroom activities were highlighted in her nomination.
