Mr. Mosteller has taught at Appalachian State University since 2012 splitting time between both the Department of Geological and Environmental Sciences and the Department of Sustainable Technology and the Built Environment. He has also been employed as a Research Assistant at the Appalachian Energy Center since 2009, primarily working on landfill gas to energy projects in North Carolina and Brazil, as well as follow-up data gathering for Appstate, UNCA and WCU as part of a UNC system-wide lighting efficiency upgrade project. He started teaching full time in Geology in 2018.
Joey’s geology background traces back to the University of Kansas where he received his Bachelor of Science degree. After graduation he continued to work concurrently at both the University of Kansas Geology Department and the Kansas Geological Survey as the Thin Section/Geologic Sample Prep Technician before moving back to his native Western North Carolina mountains.
