Denise Akob is a microbiologist at the United States Geological Survey, and runs the Reston Microbiology Lab. Her work encompasses microbial ecology, geomicrobiology, biogeochemistry, and the hydrologic sciences; she is working with Dr. Sarah Carmichael and Dr. Suzanna Brauer (Biology) on collaborative research projects in areas affected by acid mine drainage.
